#5 Flickr

I've done some exploration of Flickr and even opened an account. I followed the instructions for uploading some pictures from my computer. The site even has a blog that you can join. It would be more fun if I had some contacts to share pictures with. I understand what a mashup is, but not how to use one. I guess I will find out.

#7 Technology Post

#7 I learned recently that Google gets about 63% of the search business on the Web while Yahoo comes in second with about 19%. Microsoft has only 8%. Google experienced an increase in usage while Yahoo and Microsoft slipped. Competitors are beginning to complain. I wonder if monopoly laws apply here? Google continues to get bigger and bigger and has also acquired YouTube now.
#3 & #4 As you can see, I have set up my blog and entered my first post. However, I am unable to register my blog at PLCMC, so I will track my progress using my own blog.
#2 I've always considered myself a life-long learner and encouraged my students in this area also. I always used to tell them that we only stop learning when we pass on. In viewing the 71/2 habits, I came to that see that most of them are already a part of me. I always try to have a goal whether it is personal or professional. I have confidence in myself as a learner and accept my responsibility in learning. I use a toolbox--anything from people to books to technology. Technology is my favorite. As a teacher for 28 years, I quickly found out that the best way to learn something was to teach it. I play but not enough.
There is one habit I have not mentioned, and the reason is that it is the most difficult for me. I have a most difficult time viewing problems as opportunities to learn. I typically get frustrated and angry rather than feel challenged. It is a problem of which I have been long aware. I work on this. I let the frustration subside and set my goals and tools back in order. Then I proceed. But sometimes I must get help and encouragement from my family, friends, or co-workers. Thank Heaven for them!

#1 The 23 Things

I have read the blog about the program. It seems to have generated a lot of excitement among those taking part in the PLCMC project and also those who are just following it. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn about new tools. I know I wouldn't be doing it myself if not for this assignment. It's not that I don't want to learn about these things. It's just that I would be telling myself I don't have the time to experiment with these tools now. So I'll do it later. Now I have no excuse for waiting. Thank you!
